Today’s excursion was titled “Panoramic Corfu & Old Town Walking Tour”:

Enjoy a Tour of Corfu’s Main Sites – Take in highlights of Corfu on a relaxing drive and a short walking tour of Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With a local guide, you will drive to Kanoni, a wonderful vantage point for photos of tiny Pontikonisi Island, or Mouse Island, and the Vlacherna Monastery. Pass the archaeological site of Paleopolis and the gates of the late Georgian Mon Repos Villa, once a residence of the Greek Royal Family and the birthplace of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Past Garitsa Bay, you will reach Corfu’s Old Town. Enjoy a guided stroll down the famous Esplanade, one of Europe’s largest public squares; elegant Liston promenade, once reserved for aristocracy; the Old Fortress; Durrell Gardens; and the Palace of St. Michael and St. George, former residence of the British High Commissioner.

After reaching Old Town, we walked from the Old Fortress (more photos!), past the Museum of Asian Art, to Liston. From there, we walked to the Holy Church of Saint Spyridon before ending our tour and having free time.

After our tour, we had a really tasty slice of homemade baklava and then walked back to the ship, going past the New Venetian Fortress and some boats tied up in the marina. Walking back to the ship also afforded us the opportunity to get a photo of the ship, plus a combined photo of the old and new fortresses.

We ate at The Restaurant again. My wife had Spinach & Ricotta Cannelloni with mozzarella, basil & rustic tomato sauce while I had Lamb “Mechoui” - slow roasted lamb shoulder with almond rice pilaf and mint yogurt sauce. After that, my wife had the cheese platter and I had Vanilla Chocolate Bavarian - mousse quenelles in three shades.
