Today we spent the entire day (9am - 7pm) sailing within Glacier Bay:
During the trip, we had park rangers on board, giving commentary and asking any questions passengers might have. Everyone was given an information leaflet about Glacier Bay, with a detailed map on one side and some history on the other side.
We were blessed with wonderful weather, a bit windy & cold, particularly when the ship got closer to glaciers, but the sunshine was delightful and the sky was a beautiful shade of blue. From the outset, we knew we were in for a very special day.
It meant that I took a lot of photos … so here goes …
It is days like this that make us feel honoured and privileged to be able to be here and be in the moment.
At one point, I took a photo of some floating ice. The next moment, there was a loud cracking noise and the same piece of ice started to disintegrate! Moments later, it was small pieces and disappearing.
Dinner again at the World Cafe and then I went to see the second show of the comedian magician while my wife stayed in the stateroom and watched a movie. The magician was slightly better than the first time but it was somewhat telling that fewer people went to see him second time around and only 2 couples sat on the first row of seats … nobody wanted to be called upon by him.
